Expert: Azerbaijan becomes the energy flows control centre

The Head of Azerbaijani oil research centre, the oil and gas expert, Ilkham Shaban answered the questions of Novosti-Azerbaijan:
Q: Can the improvement in the relations between Iran and the West affect the importance of Azerbaijan for the energy safety of Europe? Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh has just claimed, Iran considers new gas export markets, including India, Europe and Turkey…
A: I don’t think it can make Azerbaijan less significant for the energy safety of Europe, as the Azerbaijani part differs from the part Iran can probably play. The West considers Russia and Iran the gas store; Azerbaijan has never played this part.
