President Putin: gas pipeline to South Korea can be laid via the ocean or North Korea

The President of Russia, V. Putin said at the APEC summit that the gas pipeline to South Korea could be laid via the ocean. Its length can be 650-900 km. Sea depth is 3 km there. The gas sector representatives criticized the idea before because the sea bottom has a very complicated surface. The prospects of laying of the gas pipeline via North Korea is complicated with the lasting ‘cold war’ between the 2 Koreas. Currently the economy of the republic of Korea is provided only with LNG. Mr. Putin claimed at the summit that Russia is going to broaden cooperation in the energy sphere with the APO states, including with the help of the liberalization of LNG exports.
