Launch of Power of Siberia gas pipeline delayed for at least half a year

The deadline for the launch of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to China had delayed for more than six months. The 30-year contract on supply of up to 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year to China was signed by Gazprom and CNPC in May 2014. Since the contract came into force Gazprom has four years before the start of the deliveries (for the construction of the gas pipeline and development of fields) with the possibility of the term extension for two years more. The fact that the contract entered into force was announced by chairman of Gazprom Alexei Miller on October 13th, 2014, when the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China was signed. "With the signing of the intergovernmental agreement, our contract officially entered into force. And since this moment countdown till the start of the deliveries started,"- the Interfax quoted his words.
