Europe not to be able to purchase LNG from the USA in the near future, Wintershall

Europe will not be able to purchase liquefied natural gas( LNG) from the USA in the near future. The Chairman of the Board of Management of German oil-and-gas company Wintershall, Rainer Zeele said.

According to him the talks about the replacement of the Russian natural gas by American LNG are more of populist affirmations than realistic economically sound forecasts.

“The mass supply of liquefied gas from the USA is a long-term prospect, not a forecast for the near future,” Zelev said to “Vedomosti”. It is not clear, what volumes of the American gas they speak about and what is the final price of the gas in the European terminals. It is difficult to say how much the current infrastructure is ready to accept the gas from America and if there are enough tankers for that, for instance.”
