Gazprom is asked to make room – Rosneft and other companies want into China too
Gazprom faces stiff pressure from independent gas producers, including Rosneft. Now they insist on access to the Power of Siberia pipeline, designed by Gazprom only for its own fields and supplies to China. According to analysts, this may be a next step in the loss of the export monopoly by Gazprom.
The independent gas producers try to obtain access to the future Power of Siberia gas pipeline, via which Gazprom is going to export gas from the Chayandisnkoye and Kovyktinskoye fields to China. According to the Kommersant, this was discussed at the meeting of the FEC governmental commission on February, 25th. On its results, Vice Prime Minister ,Arkady Dvorkovich entrusted the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economy, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Federal Tariff Service to elaborate with Gazprom and the independent producers a procedure of cooperation during supply of gas to Power of Siberia and its main terms, including the price. The Departments reported to the Kommersant that their stand hadn’t been formulated yet, but they would submit their proposals before April, 18th.
