Production at Kashagan may be postponed to 2014

Raw material production at the largest sea field Kashagan may be resumed no sooner than in 2014, if results of the field’s pipelines analysis will show significant damages, the Wall Street Journal writes, referring to sources that are familiar with the situation.

The production at the Kashagan – one of the largest world deposits – was suspended in September, two weeks after its start because of gas seepage. And almost right after the resumption of the production in October, another gas seepage was found. Initially it was assumed that the production at the Kashagan would make up 8 million tons of oil in the next year and would increase to 12 million tons in 2015 that would allow Kazakhstan to become one of the ten largest oil-producing countries.
