Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision: the Prirazlomnaya platform is not ready for operation

The Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision has inspected works at the Prirazlomnaya platform, which is planned to be used for oil production in the Pechora Sea. The Department noted that on the whole the platform is not ready to be operated.

At present, the preparation to test systems of the drilling complex is carried out at the platform. Earlier, the Gazpromneft shelf's Management promised to get oil in the first six months of 2012.

During the inspection, 8 violations were found by the Department, and the resolution on calling on management responsibility was made – the sum of the fine is 40 thousand rubles. Sevmash, which constructed the platform, appealed the resolution, it is awaiting approval in the Arbitrage court in the Republic of Karelia now.

“The operations to launch the drilling complex are carried out at the platform.  According to the schedule, the drilling was to start in June. But, it’s likely that the control organizations won’t allow them to start, because the platform is not ready yet. In particular, the technological complex for primary oil purification hasn’t been launched,” – an informed source told.

Earlier, the General Director of Gazpromneft shelf, Alexander Mandel announced the company’s plans to get the first oil in the first 6 months of 2012.
