Rosatom has been licensed for the construction of Akkuyu nuclear power plant in 2018

​The head for legal and corporate issues of Rosatom’s enterprise – Akkuyu Nuclear JSC – I. Smirnov said that the company is to be issued the license for the construction of the nuclear power plant in 2018.

According to him, the company applied to the Turkish supervision agency which will be considered for 18 months according to the national law. Mr. Smirnov hopes that Akkuyu Nuclear will be issued the license in 2018.

The first block of the future nuclear power plant is planned to be put into operation in 2023 and complete construction in 2026. Mr. Smirnov drew the attention to the fact that the Turkish party hadn’t started the consideration of the application as the works on the parameters of the site for construction still go on. It was reported that the President of turkey rejected the suggestion of the European Parliament to shut down the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the country.
