Steel consumption: the crisis comes to us.

The quarter of 2014 was the bad one for Russian steel-consuming industries. The scanty growth of the industrial production (1.4%) compared to the same period last year (APPG) was associated with an increase of the production in oil and gas and food industries. There is a downturn in engineering, particularly strong in the enterprises of Medium Machine Building (agricultural and automotive).
The statistics of the Q1 housing shows the more encouraging data - there has been an increase by one-third compared with the same period last year, 13.6 million square meters of residential buildings were commissioned in the beginning of May.
