The USA strives to decrease the dependence of Europe on Russia energy sources

In conditions of the USA shale gas revolution, Washington may try to lift the ban on raw materials export and eventually to organize large-scale supplies of liquefied natural gas, one of senior U.S. officials stated. Mass media report that the USA authority think out ways to put pressure on Russia in the Ukrainian question; and in the future they will try to reduce the EU's dependence on Russian energy sources.

Lately, gas - and oil production grew a lot in the USA that allowed market players to consider problem of LNG exports and lifting the ban on the "black gold" supply (in force from 1970), the Vedomosti reported on Wednesday. Until recently, discussions have been held with only from the economic and environmental points of view, but now the U.S. shale boom is reborn in the geopolitical factor, the Financial Times is sure. Republican leader in the U.S. Congress’ House of Representatives John Boehner stated the USA doesn’t want the Europeans “to depend on Putin in its energy needs".

Senior U.S. officials think that the U.S. President Barack Obama will be able to make the export of raw materials a major tool to reduce Russia's influence in the EU, the RIA Novosti transmits.
