Ministry of Natural Resources to hold an auction for backblocks in Yakutia in 2015, Lukoil is a candidate – Donskoi

The Ministry of Natural Resources plans to hold an auction for a site in the Khatanga Bay in the LaptevSea – the so-called “backblocks” – until the end of 2015, the Minister, S. Donskoi, said.

“We have prepare the auction by the respective order of the President and on the results of the tender the decision will be made. The auction is likely to be held approximately this year”, S. Donskoi said adding that Lukoil plans to participate in the auction.

Lukoil was reported to plan to found a new center of hydrocarbons extraction in Yakutia. Lukoil’s head, V. Alekperov, at the meeting with the President Putin in February 2014 said that his company would like to start the exploration in the backblocks in Yakutia – 900 km to all towns and communications.
