Rosneft plans to start oil exploration in Chukotka in 2014

In 2014-2015, Rosneft plans to carry out geological exploration on assessment of oil reserves and conditions of its extraction at the licensed sites on Arctic shelf near Chukotka coast, a representative of the Chukotka’s government reported to the RIA Novosti.

“In accordance with decree of the Russian Government, Rosneft received the right of geological study, exploration and production of hydrocarbon raw material on the Arctic shelf in the water area of the Chukchi and the East Siberian Seas at the sites North-Vrangelevsky-1, North-Vrangelevsky-2 and South-Chukotsky, where RN-Shelf-Far East (the Rosneft’s subsidiary) plans to carry out a comprehensive geophysical research,” – the agency’s interlocutor said.
