Reason for the fuel crisis is a failure in the oil and gas policy of Kazakhstan

A delegate of the Parliament’s Majilis, A. Konurov, said that the reason of the fuel crisis was a failure in the oil and gas policy of Kazakhstan.

“Kazakhstan, being in the top-20 of the largest oil extraction countries of the world, faces another fuel crisis which reflected in the lack of oil products, their price rise and quality fall. We think a true reason of the fuel crisis is not in the so-called low fuel price but in the failure of the State oil and gas policy. The evidence to that is the urgent necessity to sign contracts for oil products import. Unfortunately, Kazakhstan doesn’t have the exact vision of the long-term development of the domestic oil refinery sector”, A. Konurov said.

According to the delegate, the existing program of development of the oil and gas sector in the part of oil processing also bases on the reconstruction of 3 plants, doesn’t contain the vision of the effective functioning of the market in general.
