Japan freezes assets of Chernomorneftegas and oil bases in Feodosiya

The Cabinet of Ministers of Japan on Tuesday approved the sanctions announced in late July against Russia.

So the sanctions will come into force from today.

Tokyo freezes the assets of 2 companies – Chernomorneftegas and the oil bases located in Feodosiya in the framework of the sanctions introduced against Russia.

The decision of the Government of Japan on the introduction of sanctions against Russia due to the situation in the Ukraine was announced on July 28th. The sanctions presuppose the freezing of assets in Japan of people and organizations “directly connected with the Crimea’s joining Russia and destabilization of the situation in the east of the Ukraine”. Japan will agree its actions concerning the new projects on the European Reconstruction and Development Bank’s strategy with the measures taken by the EU. Moreover, restrictions on the imports of the goods from the Crimea will be introduced.
