Slovakia gives the go-ahead for reverse gas supplies to the Ukraine

The Slovakian government has given the go-ahead for the reverse gas supplies to the Ukraine, which must continue the policy of energy independence from Russia through the reverse gas supply from Europe, and the EU is ready to help it.

As the personal correspondent of the UNIAN in Brussels transmits, the EU Commissioner for Energy Issues, Gunther Oettinger stated this after the session of the EU Council at the level of Energy Ministries of 28 member countries.

“Today the Slovakian government made a decision – and this is a very important strategic decision – the reverse supplies from Slovakia to the Ukraine can be carried out. Negotiations concerning Memorandum of Understanding were held, it is about signing now. The Ukrainian government wasn’t stable. But from March 19th, everything will start to work with the negotiating process again. There is new Ukrainian government. So, our strategy is diversification,” – Oettinger said.
