"Gazprom" to raise the gas price for Ukraine.

But the problems with the gas for it are unlikely.

Russia, as it was expected, will not extend the discount on gas for Kiev in the second quarter because of "Naftogaz of Ukraine" debts. But Moscow and Brussels are willing to lend to the Ukraine both vying for the right to help the debt repayment, and even if they will not succeed in their agreement to extend the discounts, Russian "gas weapon" does not look threatening. The main interested parties continuing supply are "Gazprom" and the EU, which have to fill the underground storage facilities in the Ukraine for gas transit to Europe in the winter of 2014-2015.

The Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the President Vladimir Putin supported "Gazprom"’s decision not to extend the discount on gas for "Naftogaz of Ukraine", which expires on April 1st. The head of "Gazprom", Alexei Miller, stated that Ukraine has not paid the debt for gas and is not ready to pay for February. The Russian President stressed that the agreement on the discount provided that Ukraine will pay promptly. "The money was given, the gas price decreased, and we didn’t receive any payments. Naturally, "Gazprom" states - this will not work" - he explained.
