In the first 9 months of 2014, APG flaring in Russia fell by 22%

In the first 9 months of 2014, flares burned 22% less APG than in the same period in 2013. This data was given by the head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, Sergey Donskoy, who spoke about the problem of air pollution in large cities at the first meeting of the Federal Environmental Council.

In particular, in the reporting period 8.4 billion cubic meters were burned in flares (in comparison, in 2013 - 10.8 billion cubic meters).

According to Sergei Donskoy, the major air pollutants on a national scale are emissions from the flared associated petroleum gas. Only in the last three years, oil companies have invested in projects of APG utilization over 194 billion rubles. The decreased volume of flared gas says about the effectiveness of policy of tightening sanctions, including significantly increased fines for emissions of APG flaring products.
