Gazprom Neft looking to attract a syndicted loan credit from European banks

At the end of August Gazprom Neft sent an inquiry to a pool of European banks on the possibility of the attraction of a syndicated loan credit for 5 years by the company, a few sources in banks told Interfax. The amount and the interest rate are not mentioned in the inquiry. The company waits for offers from banks with the possible conditions of the deal.

Gazprom Neft is a top-borrower with a well-built system of relations with banks-creditors, however, in the current extraordinary conditions any deal connected with the Russian company is a very complicated decision for a Western bank, one of the bankers said. On the other hand, a number of European banks are still ready to work with the Russian borrowers, particularly if there is no further stiffening of sanctions, an interlocutor of the agency said.

The press service of Gazprom Neft doesn’t comment on the possibility of the attraction of the loan.

Last time the company attracted funds from the international banks in November 2013 having signed an agreement for $2.15 bln with a group of American, European and Japanese banks.
