Gazprom has to find another route for gas supply to Europe
Gazprom will have find another route for gas supply to Europe if there are any problems with the Ukraine.
But, as well as with the “South Stream” pipeline, the Third Energy Package slows down the process. Germany has asked the EU Commission to allow Gazprom use OPAL gas pipeline, constructed together with the large German company.
There is simple mechanism, bidding at the auction, with the help of which they could solve the problem. One can sell out the capacity of the gas pipeline at an auction. If it happens, Gazprom will be able to supply about 15 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Germany. It will happen if the underground storages in Western and Central Europe are not filled. To be more exact if the schedule is delayed it will exceed 20%.
