EU will go on receiving gas from Russia despite of the attempts to diversify sources, the head of the International Energy Agency, M. Huwen, said.
M. Huwen said that in the past the gas supply from Russia has always been reliable, 30% of gas used by Europe comes from Russia and if EU wants to diversify the supplies, the price issue should be taken into account.
The Russian gas is cheaper than LNG, M. Huwen said.
The diversification will require good investment from EU into the development of infrastructure and will make use more domestic resources.
EU considers an opportunity of replacement of the Russian gas supply by LNG.
