Igor Sechin proposes new economic policy to protect the FEC in conditions of confrontation with the West
As the Kommersant has got to know, Rosneft’s president Igor Sechin will be the keynote speaker at today's meeting of the Presidential Commission of the Fuel and Energy sector, which will meet after an almost year-long hiatus. He will propose a new economic policy in the industry to diversify the country's economy in terms of Western sanctions. He will talk, for example, about the accelerated distribution of new fields in East Siberia and the Far East, the reduction of monopolies’ tariffs in the regions, the liberalization of gas export and abolition of "tax manoeuvers". Theoretically, the proposals concern all the players, but just Rosneft can become their key beneficiary.
Today, a meeting of the Presidential Commission on the Fuel and Energy sector will take place in Astrakhan. As the Kremlin’s press centre explained yesterday, “the issues of the diversification of the sector's development and the implementation of a number of the FEC investment projects in the Far East, as well as pricing in the domestic gas market will be considered" during it. Last time the Commission met almost a year ago - in August of 2013. As the Kommersant’s sources told, the meeting at the end of 2013 was discussed, and then - in February-March of 2014, "but they had other fish to fry in the spring”. The last variant was May - around the time of Vladimir Putin's visit to China. But eventually the meeting was postponed to June, "as not to overload the schedule".
