Rosneft wants to control oil exports to Kazakhstan

he company has suggested the Government appointing it the coordinator of all the suppliers, including Gazprom Neft, Lukoil and Surgutneftegas.

The President of Rosneft, I. Sechin, addressed the Prime Minister, D. Medvedev, with the suggestion to transfer Rosneft the functions of the coordinator of supplies of all the Russian oil to Kazakhstan, including the transit supplies to China.

The stake of Kazakhstan is about 4% in the total volume of oil exports from Russia: in Feb 0.6 mln tons were exported to this country, 15.791 mln tons to all countries. Besides Rosneft, Lukoil works in the Kazakh direction (in Feb supplied 0.25 mln tons to the Pavlodar oil refinery plant), Gazprom Neft (0.175 mln tons – to the Pavlodar and Chimkent oil refinery plants), Surgutneftegas (0.034 mln tons to the Pavlodar oil refinery plant) – in total they provide 77% of these supplies. The direction is expanded: in Jan-Feb 2013 compared to the same period in 2012 the exports to Kazakhstan rose 77.3%.
