Ukrainian share in transit of gas from Russia may fall below 50% in the current year already, the Fund of national energy safety reports.
The document notes that in cases of almost identical export volumes in 2008 and 2013, the gas transit through the Ukraine fell by 33 billion cubic meters or by 28%. This was mainly caused by Nord Stream, launched in 2011, but also due to increase of Blue Stream’s rates to almost estimated ones and record transit to Europe through Belarus.
