Gerhard Schroeder may join Rosneft's Board of Directors
As the Kommersant has got to know, the second German from the chiefs of Nord Stream AG, controlled by Gazprom, may join the Rosneft’s Board of Directors – Germany’s ex-chancellor may keep Matthias Warnig company. He was in the BP-TNK’s Board at the moment of its shareholders conflict, and now he is nominated to the Rosneft’s Board by BP. The latter can bring two representatives in the Board after sale of its stake in BP-TNK to the state-owned company – BP’s head Bob Dudley will keep his seat in it. According to the Kommersant, he wanted to see another BP’s manager in the Board, but this variant didn’t suit Rosneft’s head Igor Sechin.
BP continues coordination of its representatives in the Rosneft’s Board of Directors. In addition to the head of the British company Bob Dudley, who is on the Board since 2013, the Germany’s ex-chancellor and head of the Nord Stream AG’s committee of shareholders Gerhard Schroeder may become new member, sources that are close to BP told the Kommersant. One of the Kommersant’s sources notes that friendly relationship ties Mr. Schroeder with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Of course, BP has independency in issue of its representatives, but Rosneft is not a simple company and substantial persons must be in its Board. Schroeder is an eligible candidate,” – one of the Kommersant’s interlocutors says. BP and Rosneft declined to comment yesterday.
