Investments in equipment for production of goods from polyurethane and expandable polystyrene in Russia grow

Polymer foams (also expanded foams, cellular plastics or gas-filled cellular plastics) are highly porous organic materials, made from synthetic resins. Polymer foams are distinguished based on thermoplastic polymers, having a linear structure, so-called cellular polyolefins (foamed polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride and others) and based on thermosetting or reactive resins and polymers with spatial structure (phenol formaldehyde, urea, unsaturated polyester, epoxy, polyurethane ones, etc).

Most of the equipment for processing of polymer foams is supplied in Russia under the trade code "Machines for processing of reactive resins". According statistics data in the first half of 2015, the total investment in equipment for the production of polymer foams products increased by 37% as compared to 2014 and made up $5.7 million without taxes and duties. At the same time, the total weight of the imported equipment fell by 10% to 367 tons, and the number of imported items of equipment was 27, which is by 31% less than in 2014. The list of equipment includes lines, machines, molding presses, including installations for pre-foaming, without trimming, punching and manual equipment. The imported equipment is intended mainly for the production of sandwich panels, panels of refrigeration, thermal insulation blocks, packaging, automotive components, products for machine building and others.
