The EU explains freezing of South Stream with high price of project

The EU considers the statement that Russia has stopped the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline because of the Bulgaria’s position an attempt to justify the rejection of economically unprofitable project in conditions of the fall of hydrocarbon prices, a European source stated.

"The creation of South Stream was going to cost a lot of money. At the time when the prices of oil and gas are going down, the construction of South Stream became unprofitable. This project would cost Gazprom a lot of money, and now it’s conveniently to find small Bulgaria and to scold it for the failure of the project, "- the Interfax’s interlocutor stated.
