BP’s dividends from a stake in Rosneft might fall by more than twice

The dividends of BP from a stake in Rosneft might fall by more than twice due to the fall of the oil price and value of the Russian currency. The analyst of BMO Capital Markets, I. Reid made such a forecast.

“BP will face significant losses of Rosneft’s dividends and it is aware of it. But meanwhile the company doesn’t have grounds to worry, and it can’t do much. If it tries to sell its stake in Rosneft, the value of shares will turn into almost nothing”, I. Reid said. According to him, the amount of BP’s dividends from Rosneft will make up about $320 mln this year and it might be even less due to the rate of the falling rouble. The further weakening of the economy of Russia will lead to the fact that the Government won’t be able to support the company at the previous volumes, the analyst says.
