Gazprom signed a memorandum of participation in “Nord Stream-2” with German Wintershall
Gazprom and Wintershall, a subsidiary of German petrochemical concern BASF, have signed a memorandum, which considers laying of new branches of gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2” of 55 billion cubic meters carrying capacity under the Baltic Sea as far as Germany.
Wintershall is the 4th foreign participant of the project after German E.On Ruhrgas, the English-Dutch Shell and the Austrian OMV. French Engie can also join the consortium. All companies, except OMV, are long-time business partners of Gazprom on other projects. “Nord Stream-2” will be built in accordance with the requirements of the Third Energy Package, not participating in the creation of infrastructure on the territory of Europe.
