China and Altai don’t agree on volumes

Negotiations on the supply of Russian gas to China via the Western – the Altai route are clearly far from completion. Yesterday, head of China's CNPC Wang Yilin de facto disavowed regular statements of Gazprom on the harmonization of the volume of the deliveries, stated that the figure of 30 billion cubic meters per year he knows only from the mass media. According to analysts, the Chinese side can temporize, knowing that the conclusion of the contract for the western route is necessary first of all to Gazprom.

Gazprom and CNPC, contrary to previous statements of the Russian company's management, are still far from agreement on the volume of the Russian gas supplies to China via the western route via the Altai; it follows from the words of the head of CNPC’s Board of Directors Wang Yilin. He said yesterday, that the volume of 30 billion cubic meters per year hadn’t been agreed: "This figure I heard from the mass media, but I can’t confirm it. The specific amount will be determined later, in the course of the negotiations".
