UC Rusal develops production of foil

The output of aluminium foil continues to be an important direction of UC Rusal’s business. “Last year, we reached the next record of foil production: the output made up 89 thousand tons, and the growth – 5%,” – UC Rusal’s director for the packaging business, Sergei Goryachev told in an interview to the agency Prime.

“It’s important to note that this growth wasn’t caused by investments into the extension of capacities, but was reached due to quality changes and an improvement of efficiency. Using pinpoint investments, we eliminate “bottle necks” and gain an increase of the total production. In particular, last year we managed to increase the yield factor. In 2013, a record of this performance was reached – 74.2%, - he noted. – At the same time, we reduced average thickness of produced foil that is also an important achievement”.
