Lukoil’s problems with platforms for the Caspian shelf continue

As the Kommersant has got to know, Lukoil still has problems with the construction of platforms for its field n.a. Filanovsky on the Caspian shelf. If earlier the oil company was unhappy because of the pace of the construction of the first ice-resistant platform at facilities of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), now Lukoil had to change the contractor for the construction of the second residential module platform. The order was handed from Krasnye Barrikady to a small Caspian hydraulic engineering company, which, according to experts, will allow Lukoil to better monitor its implementation.

The fact that Lukoil terminated the contract with the Astrakhan shipyard Krasnye Barrikady on the construction of the residential platform module N2 (PZHM-2) for the Caspian offshore field n.a. Filanovsky, was reported to the Kommersant by several sources familiar with the situation. According to them, Lukoil "was not satisfied with the pace of the construction," in addition, "the company had fears because of the financial situation at the shipyard". Head of the press centre of Lukoil Vitaly Matushkin confirmed to the Kommersant that the customer of PZHM-2 Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhsk "was forced to decide to terminate the contract with Krasnye Barrikady. According to him, Astrakhan Caspian hydraulic engineering company will finish the construction of the facility, the contract with it was concluded on February 10. But to "avoid the social tension" in the region and to support Krasnye Barrikady Lukoil will continue to use the shipyard’s production capacities, as well as "to attract as much as possible" its staff. Krasnye Barrikady and the Astrakhan region government didn’t answer for the Kommersant’s questions.
