Coal production in Trans-Baikal is down 2.7% in 2014

Coal production in Trans-Baikal went down 2.7% in 2014 compared to the previous year and made up 21 million tons, they stated in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Industrial Policy of the region to TASS.

The decrease in production is due to a reduction in the an effective demand for pitch coal, they stated in the Ministry. The press-service of the regional governor added that the reduction of coal production by Kharanorsky strip mine is due, first of all, to a reduction of consumption by Far-Eastern regions, which switch to gas generation.
