NLMK might shut down one of blast furnaces

​From mid December NLMK might shut down the blast furnace #3 due to the negative environment in the cast iron and semi-finished products market.

This furnace (project capacity-1.6 mln tons  a year) was put into operation in 1962. Last time it was stopped in 2013.

The period of the furnace’s shutdown will be used for its repair.

Beginning from November the loading of furnaces at the Novolipetsk site was reduced. The press-release of the Novolipetsk metallurgical plant confirmed the information of a possible shutdown of the furnace for repair: “In November the blast furnace produced 131.3 thousand tons of cast iron, in total NLMK produced 1.003 mln tons of cast iron in November”.
