Euro-5 petrol production to start in Q2 2020 at Baku oil refinery

​SOCAR plans to start the modernization of the Baku oil refinery n.a. G. Aliev, the deputy CEO of SOCAR OGPC, E. Alkhasly, said.

These works aim at the organization of production of high-quality oil products at the plant. In conformity with the plans, the output of Euro-5 diesel fuel at the Baku oil refinery is planned to be started in Q2 2019, Euro-5 petrol – in Q2 2020, bitumen production at a new unit – Q2 2018, he said.

According to him, the volume of petrol production at the Baku oil refinery after modernization will make up 2.2 mln tons a year, diesel fuel-3 mln tons a year, kerosene – 1 mln tons a year. In the structure of oil products output after the modernization of the Baku oil refinery, 37% will be diesel fuel, 25%-petrol, 13%-kerosene, the rest 25% - other types of oil products.

The realization of this project will primarily allow to cover the country’s domestic needs in petrol for the next 15-20 years, he said.
