Horizontal drilling to take 30% of the oil production in Russia.

Before the end of the year the horizontal drilling technologies could reach 30% of the Russian oil production, according to Pyotr Golitsyn, the head of the North American division of TMK.

"Horizontal drilling in Russia has already started - though later than in the US, but on a large-scale basis. The growth of horizontal drilling between H2 2013 and H1 2014 amounted to almost 40%. This year we expect that 30% of all the oil produced in Russia will be extracted horizontally", - Golitsyn stated, speaking at the Russian Embassy in Washington at a conference on new methods of energy use in Russia and the United States.
