A representative of the group, consisting of 33 deputies-lobbyists, N.Takemoto asserted the country could reduce expenditures for power, if it got direct access to the gas pipeline. “It is cheaper than to import LNG with the help of tankers,” Takemoto said.

The gas pipeline of 1350 km length is expected to join Russian island Sakhalin with the Japanese Ibaraki Prefecture.
