Zaporozhsteel reduced steel making by 11.4% in March

Zaporozhsteel of Metinvest group of R. Akhmetov in March sharply reduced the production of cast iron, steel and finished metal rolled products. It is connected with the shutdown of a blast furnace #2 for expanded capital repair of the 2nd stage with the elements of reconstruction in February 2015 (daily average output of the blast furnace is about 3,200 tons of cast iron). The duration of the capital repair is about 60 days. The value of the capital repair will be about 200 mln grivna.

In March 2015 the output of metal products at Zaporozhsteel fell by 8.9% to 265.3 thousand tons against March 2014, steel making fell by 11.4% to 298.6 thousand tons an cast iron production fell by 8.5% to 262.3 thousand tons.

In Jan-March 2015, 867.9 thousand tons of cast iron were produced, 939.1 thousand tons of steel, 829.0 thousand tons of rolled products. In annual terms the production of cast iron rose by 6.4%, steel making fell by 2.6%, rolled products output – by 2.1%.
