The Ukraine can’t get rid of accumulated coal reserves

The shutdown of the Uglegorsk thermal power plant due to a large-scale fire will worsen the situation in the coal sector, the chairman of the Independent trade union of miners of the Ukraine, M. Volynets, said.

With the start of the warm weather and coming termination of the heating season, the consumption and demand for coal from the thermal power plants will fall in the Ukraine. The accident at the Uglegorsk thermal power plant will only worsen the problem for the coal sector, he said.
