UC Rusal to increase pure marks silicon output in 2015

In the framework of the program of import replacement UC Rusal plans to increase the volume of silicon output with low content of iron. It will allow it to increase the raw materials safety of the aluminium production and decrease the stake of silicon imports by more than 50% by the end of 2015.

In the framework of the program UC Rusal plans to increase the production volume of silicon of pure marks 2502 and 2002 necessary for the output of aluminium alloys for the car manufacturing industry.

Currently UC Rusal already produces the first pilot lots of silicon of 2502 mark with iron contents of up to 0.25% and keeps working on the production of 2002 mark with iron contents of up to 0.2%. For that purpose the technology of pouring and casting form configuration are being improved together with the specialists of the Engineering-technical center of UC Rusal at the silicon enterprises – SUAL-Silicon-Ural (Kamensk-Uralsky) and Silicon (Shelekhov).
