Gas supply to Kyrgyzstan to cost Gazprom 45 billion rubles

Gazprom can dramatically increase its investments into the development of the gas transportation system (GTS) in Kyrgyzstan, bought for $1, the construction of a pipeline for gas supply to the south of the country for 45 billion rubles, the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev stated. The company will also reduce the price of gas for the north of Kyrgyzstan by a third from October, to the level of Belarus. The low gas consumption in Kyrgyzstan,means the recoupment of the pipeline's cost is in question, but according to analysts, the actions of "Gazprom will closer tie Kyrgyzstan to Russia and the Customs Union.

Gazprom is going to build a pipeline in Kyrgyzstan, which will connect the gas supply systems of the north and south of the country, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev said yesterday. According to him, the investment will amount to 45 billion rubles; the pipeline can be built by the end of 2016. In addition, Mr. Atambayev reported that from October 1st, the cost of gas for the north of Kyrgyzstan will be reduced from $224 to $165 per 1 thousand cubic meters and Gazprom will provide Bishkek a soft loan in the amount of $20 million to ensure the country's south – the Osh region and the city of Osh – as the gas supplies from Uzbekistan are stopped. These agreements, according to the President of Kyrgyzstan, were achieved during a visit to Gazprom’s head, Alexei Miller last week.
