NLMK will begin start up and assembly work at new mini-mill in August
NLMK Sort continues the construction ofthe Kaluga scientific and production electric metallurgical plant. The company is going to begin the start up and assembly work at the new mini-mill in August, and the cold testing will last until the end of 2012. The assembling of the equipment of the rolling shop will be completed in the Autumn. Hot testing in the electric steel smelting and rolling shops will begin in Q1 2013, and then the plant will be put into production operation. The plant equipment includes a minor sort mill with the annual capacity of 0.9 million tons that will specialize in production of hardware with diameter of 8-32 mm and steel profiles, corners 25-100 mm, and channel #5-10. The electric steel smelting shop will be equipped with an arc electric steel smelting furnace, a two-position aggregate for steel treatment ladle furnace and eight-grooved sort uninterrupted casting machine.
