Slovakia not to notice loss of the Ukraine

Gazprom has explained how it sees the supply of Russian gas to Europe after 2019, when the transit contract with the Ukraine will be expired. The monopoly announced an agreement with Bratislava on the use of Slovak gas pipelines within the Trans-Baltic project of Nord Stream-2. Until now Slovakia was one of the main critics of the project, because it could lose income from the transit. Gazprom plans to supply only 10-15 billion cubic meters through the Ukraine, but this is only possible if in addition to Nord Stream-2 at least one thread of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will be built.

Gazprom has agreed with the Slovak gas transmission operator Eustream on the use of local gas transportation system for the supply of gas to Central Europe via the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, said yesterday head of the Russian company Alexei Miller. "Today the negotiations were held with Eustream and it was agreed that the Slovak gas transmission capacity would be used in the framework of the North Stream-2 project," - he said, answering the question of the Kommersant. Mr. Miller added that "this joint activity will be long term", but declined to give details of the agreement.
