The project of Mikheyevsky GOK passes the state appraisal

The design documents of Mikheyevsky mining and concentration complex (GOK) passed the state appraisal. Thus, the large-scale investment project will be fulfilled in the full volume.
At the beginning of 2013,the Mikheyevsky GOK obtained a positive decision from the RF State Expert Evaluation Department. And recently the company has obtained a positive conclusion from the state expert evaluation confirming that the project has observed all necessary norms from the points of technology, efficiency of the equipment and the disposition of this equipment on the territory as well as ecological safety norms.

The state claims that Ufaleynickel must return the borrowed metal as soon as possible

This week the Supreme Arbitration Court of the RF will specify the date
of consideration of the lawsuit of the Federal State Reserve Agency against
Ufaleynickel Plc. the agency claims that Ufaleynickel must hasten the returning
of 2,900 tons of nickel borrowed from the state in 1990-s. the one-time
returning of such amount of the products can result in bankruptcy of the township-forming
enterprise of Upper Ufaley (46 thousand citizens).

Dneprospetsstal needs more orders on special steel

2012 was rather complicated for the only Ukrainian producer of special steel and alloys Dneprospetsstal (Zaporozhye). The point was not even in the fulfillment of production plan but the complications due to the reduction of the orders portfolio and the growth of prices of the resources, including energy. Severstal to build heat-treating machine to increase production of EHS steel

The Cherepovets metallurgical complex, one of the largest integrated steel plants in the world (Severstal Russian Steel Division) will put into operation a new heat-treating machine in 2013. The total value of the project will make up 246 million rubles.

The project is aimed at the increase of the production of mill-2800 thick plate out of EHS steel with new application properties for such branches of industry as shipbuilding, bridge building and the production of heavy duty machines. Read more »

KUMZ goes on building a new rolling complex

Kamensk-Uralsk metallurgic plant (KUMZ) goes on building the new rolling complex, the technical equipment of which will exceed all Russian and European analogues. Its foundation will provide deliveries of qualitatively new (in configuration and nomenclature) semi-finished products, increase the share of Russian products made of the latest aluminium and aluminium-lithium alloys to at least 20% of total sales of aluminium semi-finished products to leading Russian and foreign aircraft building corporations (Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier etc.). Severstal SMTs-Kolpino started purchasing the equipment for production of high added value products.

Russia. Mechel discusses the prospects on the development of Elga deposit with South Korean STX and Posco

Mechel Plc. concluded an agreement of long-term cooperation with South Korean STX at the business summit of the Forum of Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the company’s press service reports. Besides, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mechel, Igor Zyuzin and President of Posco summarized the results of the cooperation in accordance with the agreement about the projects signed by the companies in 2011. Ferrous metal purchases in the Russian ship-building sector went up by 17%

In January-June 2012, according to rail-road statistics, direct supplies of cast iron, rolled steel, pipes and semi-finished products to the leading ship-building and repair facilities of Russia reached 92 thousand tons.
