In the first 4 months of 2013, pipe production in the Ukraine decreased by 28%

According to preliminary data, in January-April of 2013,the Ukrainian enterprises of the mining and metals sector decreased the steel production by 1% as compared to the same period of 2012 to 11.058 million tons.
As the agency Interfax Ukraina was reported by Metallurgprom (Dnepropetrovsk), in the first 4 months, the output of total and finished rolled metal was maintained at the level of the last year – 9.880 million tons and 9.064 million tons respectively, but the output of cast iron grew by 1% to 9.670 million tons.

Within 3 years, Krasnoyarsk region is going to invest 100 billion rubles to metallurgy development

Today the Minister of Industry and Trade of the region A.Klimin has represented at the governmental session the departmental target program for development of the regional metallurgy sector in 2013-2015. The measures planned within the bounds of the realization of the program are aimed at the creation of the conditions for the realization of the investment projects within the sectors, for the promotion and development of cooperation connections of the metallurgy enterprises with the regional good producers, and to coordination of interrelations between metallurgy enterprises and educational schools.

The RF increases gold mining in Q1, 2013

In January-March 2013 gold mining in the RF increased by 13.2% compared to Q1, 2012. Production of ingots increased by 13.7%, Russian Federal Service for State Statistics (Rosstat) reports. Production of palladium and alloys reduced by 5.9%, production of platinum and alloys increased by 7.9%.

BAZ will produce over 30,000 tons of aluminum rolled wire annually

The CEO of Bogoslovsky aluminum plant (BAZ belonging to UC Rusal) V. Kazachkov says that the plant realizes the project for organization of aluminum rolled wire production; the plant was going to close electrolysis shop before. The company has started financing of design and research work for construction of the shop for aluminum rolled wire production. They have completed geological subsoil testing at the territory of the 6 series corpuses, and analyze the competitor list of several companies supplying equipment.

RusAl invests EUR 150 million into NAZ for aluminium processing

UC “RusAl” invests EUR 150 million into the Nadvoitsky aluminium plant (NAZ) in order to establish aluminium and aluminium chip production at the enterprise, the head of Karelia A.Khudilainen said.
He said that there was a meeting by order of the President of Russia V.Putin, where there was worked out the algorithm of the saving of NAZ, “Prime” agency states. The participants of the meeting were the representatives of “RusAl”, OJSC “Gazprom”, OJSC “FGC UES” and OJSC “Rosseti”.

ChTPZ presents its results for 2012

In 2012, Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant JSC (ChTPZ) increased its net profit from 469 million rubles to 1.207 billion rubles. Revenue increased from 113.971 billion rubles to 116.882 billion rubles. Gross profit increased by 8%. EBITDA increased by 17% to 20.210 billion rubles, the record index for the latest 5 years. Operational cash flow was 17.354 billion rubles, including 10.260 billion rubles allocated to credit payment. As a result, total debt declined to 102.983 billion rubles.

Sayanogorsk aluminium plant increased alloy production by 10% in Jan-March

The Sayanogorsk aluminium plant, a part of UC RusAl, produced 90.8 thousand tons of alloys in Q1, 2013. It is by 8 thousand tons more than a year ago, the press-service of the company reports.
The basic tendency in an aluminium sector this year is an excessive production of aluminium. The world market can not consume the metal produced in the current volume. Stock reserves go up, their price decreases from $2200 last year to $1850 per a ton this year. Under the circumstances the metallurgists of SAZ focused on an output of alloys and the reduction of the prime cost of the product. The plant reduced the rate of consumption of alumina, aluminium fluoride and baked anodes, necessary for a production of 1 ton of aluminium.

Net profit of SKM Group increases by 34.2% - to 57 million USD in 2012

In 2012 the net profit of Ukrainian financial and industrial group System Capital Management (SKM) made up 459.4 million hryvni (57 million USD) – by 117.2 million hryvni (14.6 million USD) more that the analogous result in 2011, RBC Ukraine reports with reference to the press service of SMK.

Uzbek AGMK increases copper production by 1.2% in Q1

In January-March 2013 Uzbek copper monopoly Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex Plc. (AGMK) icreased production of cathode copper by 1.2% compared to the same period in 2012 – to 21.2 thousand tons, the enterprise reports.

The Koreans are about to produce wolfram in Uzbekistan

The State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources (Goscomgeo) of Uzbekistan and Korean Shindong Resources (Shandong) are about to establish a joint venture for a construction of a mining and processing works (GOK) at the wolfram deposit Sautbai of $145 million value before the end of May.
According to a managing director of Shindong Shin Yang Woo, the JV will be created on a parity basis; the operating agreement on a creation of a joint venture might be signed before the end of May.
