In January-March, coal production in Russia grew by 0.4%

In January-March of 2014, coal production in Russia grew insignificantly by 0.4% to 85.85 million tons, the Central Dispatch Department of the Fuel and Energy Sector reports.
In March, 28.75 million tons of coal were mined.

UC RUSAL announced its financial results for 2013.

UC RUSAL, one of the world's leading aluminum producers, announces the financial results of the company in 2013.
Main results:
Throughout 2013 the aluminum prices on the LME remained low as a result of negative investment expectations and exerted strong pressure on the aluminum industry. The average price of aluminum on the LME fell by 8.6 % from $ 2.018 dollars/ton in 2012 to $1.845 dollars/ton in 2013, however, thanks to the program to reduce costs and optimize working capital, implemented by the management of the company, as well as improving the product line, weakening of the local currency and increased premiums RUSAL ended the year with a margin for EBITDA in the aluminum sector at 11.3%.

In the first two months, nickel production in Russia grew

In the first two months of the current year, output of green nickel in Russia grew by 3.5%, and green cobalt decreased by 0.3%, the Federal State Statistics Service reports.

The last Martin furnace ceased operation at Chusovoy metal works

On March 31st, the last Martin furnace ceased operations at the Chusovoy metal works of OMK. The stopping of the Martin furnace is the next stage in the fully-fledged reconstruction of the enterprise that presupposes getting rid of the old unprofitable facilities and the transition to production of goods in demands, such as casing,pumping and compressor pipes of high durability sorts with premium joints. Within its 70 years of operation, the Martin shop of the plant made 29 million tons of steel. After stopping of the Martin furnaces, the plant will start the disassembly of the duplex shop. Now they have fully disassembled the agglomeration plant and the converters and continues disassembling of blast furnace #1 and the gas refining utilities of the duplex shop.

In 2013, Norilsk Nickel increased its net profit under RAS by 11.6%

By results of 2013, Norilsk Nickel (without Kola mining and metallurgical plant and foreign assets) increased its net profit under RAS by 11.56% to 78.305 billion rubles, the company reports.
At the same time, in the reporting period the proceeds fell by 5.57% to 272.585 billion rubles, the proceeds from sale of metal and products by 5.46% to 258.572 billion rubles. The total profit also decreased by 12.55% to 154.666 billion rubles.

In 2013, Lenzoloto increased net profit by RAS by 1.5 times

In 2013, Lenzoloto, a subsidiary of Polyus Gold Int. increased its net profit by RAS by 1.5 times to 2.206 billion rubles. The net profit was formed mostly by income of the subsidiaries at a rate of 2.182 billion rubles, Revenue increased by 2.8 times to 364,000 rubles. Sales loss increased by 1.9 times to 15.339 million rubles. Pretax profit increased by 1.5 times to 2.215 billion rubles.
