The largest aluminium producers to be deprived of billions in premiums

The world's largest aluminium producers UC Rusal, Alcoa and Rio Tinto have received $5.6 billion of additional income in the form of premiums for aluminium supplies in 2011-2013, the Vedomosti writes, referring to The Wall Street Journal’s research.
Only in the last year Alcoa and UC Rusal earned $1.4 billion. Today the premium to exchange price is $245 per 1 tons or 13% of the aluminium price at LME. This is result of difficulties with metal supply from the exchange depots. “LME depots dispatches about 3 000 tons of metal every day and the turn around  sometimes exceeds 100 days,” – the Director of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx, owner of LME) Charles Lee explained in the summer.

Rosgeologiya suggests to grant it licenses on non-tender basis

Rosgeologiya uniting the state geological assets suggests to introduce the amendments to the Law ‘About Subsoil’ that would allow to the company as a strategy state enterprise to get subsoil for use under the application principle, on non-tender basis.
These changes were suggested by the chief of Rosgeologiya, R. Panov at the session of the governmental commission for the social and economic development of Far East on Thursday. The measure can intensify granting of the license and geological prospecting of the most perspective subsoil.

Transshipment of Russian ferroalloys in Europe decreases by a quarter

According to Customs and Railway Statistics, in the first nine months of the current year export of Russian ferroalloys made up 675 thousand tons.

In January – September, MMK Group reduced steel production by 10%

In January – September, MMK Group reduced production of steel by 10% to 9.027 million tons, and trade metal items by 9% to 8.309 million tons.
In Q4, trade metal items yield is going to remain at the level Q3. Steel production in Q3 reduced by 7% to 2.874 million tons, and trade metal items yield reduced by 7% to 2.640 million tons, due to the planned repairs of the blast furnace in Magnitogorsk, and full stop of production capacities at MMK Metalurji while the strike.

Azerbaijan increased gold production by 5.7% in Jan-September

The subsurface users of Azerbaijan produced 1173.5 kg of gold in January-September 2013. It is by 5.7% more than during the same period last year, silver production is up by 11.4 kg to 531 kg, is said in a statement of the State Statistics Service (Goskomstat).

The output in Kazakhmys is stable

In January-September 2013 Kazakhmys produced 215 thousand tons of copper in cathode equivalent. In Q3, copper production made up 71 thousand tons. The average content of copper in ore made up 0.97%. Stable process of ore production and processing will enable to reach scheduled 285-295 thousand tons before the end of the year.
The output of associated products, zinc in concentrate, silver, gold, is also carried out in accordance with an annual schedule. There has been produced 100 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate in January-September 2013. Silver production is up by 1.4 million ounces to 10.4 million ounces against last year becuase of the exeeding of the raw materials processing limit of the previous year and an increase of recovery factor. Gold production made up 78.2 thousand ounces during this period.

Norilsk Nickel to create new production of cobalt

Another stage of the project “Cobalt production” has been realized by Kola GMK (an affiliate of Norilsk Nickel). Cobalt cathode shearing equipment has been transferred to the company’s ownership.
Cobalt cathode shearing semi-automated line is an outfit of equipment, consisting of almost a score of elements. Among them are various types of scissors, conveyors, special tables, barrel filling and weighing stations and others. The equipment is up to all the modern standards, inclusive of safety requirements. It is valued at about 120 million roubles.

In January – September, Mariupol metal works reduced net loss by one third to 1.48 billion grivnas

In January – September, Mariupol metal works reduced net loss by 36.1% to 1.483645 billion grivnas, pretax loss by 35.6% to 1.727017 billion grivnas, and net revenue by 6.7% to 17.649382 billion grivnas. By September 30, uncleared loss was 6.365739 billion grivnas.
In H1, Mariupol metal works reduced net loss by 44.6% to 937.199 million grivnas, pretax loss by 44.5% to 1.083222 billion grivnas, and net revenue by 16.7% to 11.629187 billion grivnas.

In the first nine months, loss of Alchevsk metallurgic plant doubled

By results of January-September of 2013, Alchevsk metallurgic plant increased its net loss under IAS 2.1 times as compared with the same period of the previous year to 1 150.029 billion hryvnias. According to quarterly report of the enterprise, its net income grew by 1.5% in the reporting period to 10 906.921 million hryvnias. The plant’s unpaid loss was 4 360.354 million hryvnias as of September the 30th of 2013.
