This year, gold production in Tajikistan planned to increase to 4 tons

This year, gold production in Tajikistan is planned to reach 4 tons, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic Shaukat Bobozoda reported on Thursday.
"We plan to increase the production of this type of precious metal to 4 tons," - said Bobozoda at the press conference in Dushanbe.

Karim Massimov, the Kazakh Prime Minister, offered to proceed to settlements in the national currencies at the meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). "We consider it possible to start mutual settlements in national currencies. We already have developments at the bilateral level, which could be transferred onto the entire organization", - Massimov stated.

Swiss Glencore to help Taj-aluminum "Talco" put 200 furnaces for smelting aluminum into operation.

Is "Talco" ready to "roll"?
The largest aluminum plant in Tajikistan "Talco" has signed an agreement with Glencore International and Talco Management Limited on the commissioning of 200 aluminum smelting furnaces.
The State Company "Talco", Glencore International and Talco Management Limited have agreed to resume work on 200 aluminum smelting furnaces. A source in "Talco" told Radio Ozodi that the agreement had been signed on October 15, 2014.
The Swiss company Glencore International will begin work in the winter, and by the summer of 2015 the furnace will be launched.

Talco to build cathode plant together with General Nice

The Tajik aluminium company Talco and Chinese General Nice Investments have signed an agreement on the construction of an enterprise for cathode blocks production.
The document has been signed within the framework of a business-forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held in Dushanbe.

The Chinese Tebian Electric Apparatus will extract gold in Tajikistan

The Chinese Tebian Electric Apparatus (TBEA) has been granted the license for geological prospecting, exploration and extraction of gold and accompanying mineral resources at 2 golden ore deposit in Northern Tajikistan until 2017, the local mass-media report.
Earlier Tebian Electric founded specially for the work in Tajikistan the subsidiary ТВЕА Dushanbe Mining Industry that completes now geological exploration at the deposits of Eastern Duoba abd Upper Kumarg in the Sogdi region.

A branch for gas supply to Southern Kyrgyzstan will be built from the pipeline of Turkmenistan – China

The professor, the member of the public supervisory council under the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan V. Kasymova says that it’s unreasonable to sell the lands of Kyrgyzstan in exchange for gas because in the future they expect the construction of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan via the territory of the Alaysky district to China, and a branch for gas supplying to the Osh and Batkensky regions can be built from there. She claims that Kyrgyzstan possesses own hydrocarbon reserves and they should be developed with the attraction of investment. In her opinion, it’s wrong that Kyrgyzgaz is sold to Gazprom. One of the promises of Gazprom was to execute deposits exploration for gas and to develop industrial reserves if those are discovered. Kyrgyzstan should not agree with the demand of Uzbekistan to sell a part of the Kyrgyz lands for gas.

Glencore can help UC Rusal in Tajikistan

The Trader Glencore, which owns 8.75% of UC Rusal, is ready to invest into the modernization of the Tajik Aluminium Company (Talco). Meanwhile, the agreement of UC Rusal’s shareholders implies restrictions on the purchase of core assets by the parties, and the company itself has been trying to recover $274 million of debt from Talco. Sources of the Kommersant believe that Glencore can make the payments a condition of the investment.
The Tajik President, Emomali Rahmon has discussed cooperation in the production, processing and sale of aluminium with head of the Glencore AG’s aluminum unit Andrew Kaplan. Glencore “intends to contribute to the technological modernization of the state unitary enterprise Tajik Aluminium Company (Talco) and to restore the production capacity of the plant," the press centre of the President specified. Talco is the only aluminium producer in Tajikistan. Its capacity is over 500 thousand tons per year, but in 2013 only 216.4 thousand tons were produced, the plant made the loss in the amount of $40 million. In 2003, UC Rusal, in which Glencore owns a 8.75% stake, began working with Talco, planned to take a controlling stake in the plant, but in 2004 the partnership ended, and the companies began to be at low since 2005. In October 2013, UC Rusal reported that according to the decision of the International Commercial Arbitration in Switzerland Talco owed the Russian company $274.3 million. The court rejected a counterclaim against a structure of UC Rusal for $400 million.

China buys the lead-zinc deposit "Zarnisori Shimoli" from Tajikistan.

An agreement to develop the "Zarnisori Shimoli" field was signed in Dushanbe.
The agreement signing between the State Committee on Investments and gosimuschestvom Tajikistan and "Tajik-Chinese mining company" (TC-Gorprom) to develop the lead and zinc deposits was held in Dushanbe this week.
The agreement was signed by Kodiri Cosima, the chairman of the State Committee, and Huang Xiang Zhong, the president of the Chinese company, as reported on the website of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management.
