Gazprom reduces export of gas to Europe by 17% in the first half of the year

In the first half of the year Gazprom Plc. reduced export of gas to Europe by 17% - to 71.93 billion cubic metres (from 86.6 billion cubic metres in the first half of 2011), is said in the company’s RAS report. Gazprom loses its monopoly, production and export sales are falling

Gazprom has lost its monopoly for the gas exports. A part of the Russian gas to Germany will be shipped not by the largest gas holding Gazprom but Novatek.

Though Gazprom was has lost part of the  German market its not that much, nevertheless it has happened, and beginning with Q4 2 bln cubic meters of gas will be annually shipped to Germany by Novatek. The contract is signed for 10 years. The value  of the contract is assessed at around $600 mln a year and could be up to $10 bln for 10 years. Read more »

Eni postpones the launch of the Arctic project

One of the first oil deposits of the Arctic, being prepared for putting into industrial operation, will start working not earlier than Q1 2014, the company-operator Eni said initially it was planned to start the oil production at the deposit in Q4 2013.

The delay is due to the fact that the production platform is not ready, it is being constructed at the dry dock of Hyundai Heavy Industries, Eni reports.

The project has faced the difficulties, the company assumes.

Ferrous metal purchases in the Russian ship-building sector went up by 17%

In January-June 2012, according to rail-road statistics, direct supplies of cast iron, rolled steel, pipes and semi-finished products to the leading ship-building and repair facilities of Russia reached 92 thousand tons. It is by 16.5 more than during the same period in 2011 and by 8% more than in 2010. Read more »

More than 30 mln tons of LNG exported from Sakhalin over 3 years

The operator of the project “Sakhalin-2” – company Sakhalin Energy – produced more than 30 mln tons of LNG over the first 3 years of the operation of the LNG plant, it exceeds the volume of the annual gas supply to Germany.

The LNG production plant Sakhalin Energy in the South of Sakhalin was launched in February 2009. Its project capacity is 9.6 mln tons a year, which is equivalent to 5% of the LNG production in the world. RIA Novosti reports. Read more »

South Stream flows to the Netherlands

The operator of the South Stream might change its registration.
The operator of the sea part of the South Stream gas pipeline might change its registration and move from Zug (Switzerland) to Amsterdam. It is first of all connected with the tax conditions. The shareholders will have to eliminate the old JV and found a new structure. However, it will not take  more than 2 weeks. It will be the 3rd JV founded for the gas pipeline, the construction of which is to start at the end of the year. Read more »

OAO “Gazprom" and OAO “Rosneft” did not meet the expectations of Russian industry

The annual international conference Neftegazshelf-2012 will take place at a hotel “Radisson Slavyanskaya” on December 6. There they will consider the experience of LUKOIL on cooperation with the Russian industry. Owing to the orders of the oil company Russian industry got an investment impulse. The governor of the Astrakhan region A.Zhilkin asserted to TV channel “Russia 24”: “The economic diversification programme is being realized, but due to cooperation with LUKOIL the region got a large number of orders.” Read more »

Ex-head of OSK has become adviser to I. Sechin

The ex-President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK), R. Trotsenko, according to the sources of Kommersant, now works as an adviser to the head of Rosneft, I. Sechin, who headed the Board of Directors of OSK when he was the Vice-Prime Minister. The experience of Mr. Trotsenko might be necessary for Rosneft while working at the shelf which requires the use of a good number of specialist types of offshore equipment, analysts say. Read more »

In H1 ferroalloys exports from Russia stayed close to the record 2010 level

In Jan-June 2012 according to the customs and railroad statistics (in the countries of the Customs Union), the export of ferroalloys made up 436.6 thousand tons.
It is by 12% more against the same period 2011 and 4% less against the same period 2010. The 2009 level was exceeded by 39%, of 2006-2008 – on average by 36%. Read more »

Norilsk Nickel keeps expanding its corporate fleet

Norilsk Nickel has reported that the transfer and acceptance certificate for the river service tug built by the Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod plant was signed in Bor town, the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

This is the second tug built for Norilsk Nickel at this plant. The building of the tug was completed in the framework of the company’s port fleet modernization investment program. The program presupposes building of two river and two sea tugs as well as a liquid fuel bunkering barge. Read more »
